You know, our society is such a bunch of idiots. Everyone has to find something wrong/racist/offensive in any way. Words are words and people need to understand that. Words are used to describe things and actions. If one culture/ethnicity promotes the use of a specific action, stereotype, or even use of language and the butchering of it, then ANY entity should be allowed to use it. If you don’t want to be stereotyped, then don’t live up to everyone’s expectations and prove to be better. When movies are made and offensive material is involved, no one says a damn thing. It’s accepted as that is life and that’s how they live it. When a company uses a cultural stereotype, everyones’ ass gets chapped and they have to raise a big stink about it. Perfect example:
Now I’m not really understanding WTF this commercial is advertising here and I haven’t had a Mountain Dew in a long “hot minute”, actually since I’ve no longer been able to find the MD made with “Real Sugar”, I can care less about the product. Their marketing division desperately needs help coming up with better ideas, but if this scenario were in a movie, who the hell would be up at arms about it? No one, they’d be too busying laughing because of how stupid it was.
Everyone who’s screaming racist and so offensive needs to just STFU and get a grip on life. It’s a stereotype, one that still is going on and being lived up to in many communities and people just don’t care enough to change it. That’s no ones fault but their own. No one is entitled to having their culture looked at any differently then how they act. Disassociate yourself with idiocy and take solace in the fact that it’s not you acting that way – you’re better than that! Right?
Hell, it was a black rapper/comedian that shot the commercial with his personal friends in it. They obviously thought something about it was funny and yet it’s supposedly pushing the stereotype forward. The creator of the ad obviously feels that he’s risen above the stereotype and finds it funny. Can you only imagine what would have happened if it were a Caucasian that made the ad. His head would be on a stick in the middle of Time Square and his body parts shipped to all corners of the earth after a public beheading at the White House.
Stop being overly sensitive people. It’s just freaking TV!
