A coworker came to me today saying “why is the news saying it’s snowing in Japan? It’s a tropical island it can’t even be that cold”. Really people? Does anyone pay attention to Geography in school anymore? First of all Japan is not “an” island, it’s a group of islands (thousands of islands but 4 main islands). Second, why would it not snow there? Do people really not pay that much attention to world geography anymore? Across the Sea of Japan is Korea, China and Russia… does it not snow there either? People have no idea the concept of ‘north’ if it has nothing to do with the Unites States. When I asked her why she thought that she replied with “it’s an island”. “Ok” I said, “so is Greenland and it snows there.” She didn’t understand and I just walked away.
One response to “It can’t be snowing in Japan”
