The Fish House – Downtown Pensacola, FL

HOR-FREAKIN’-RENDOUS!!!!

Can I say that again? How about twenty times over? This place has to be BY FAR the worst place that we have EVER eaten and I’ve eaten around the world.

This place is an overpriced, overrated, under lit, and has one of the crappiest atmospheres EVER. For a party of six and a half, it took us about an hour and fifteen minutes to get seated. They decided to sit the parties of two’s and four’s in the tables that seat six to eight while squeezing the parties of five and six into the smaller booths/tables when they felt like it no less.

Next was the waitress, Greta. Holy hell-o!!!! This wench was seriously offensive. I think if we would have treated her like a wench from the medieval days it still would have been too nice for her. She offered no help, wouldn’t speak in a audible volume, reached over the table to grab plates that weren’t done being used, held heavy and hot plates over the babies head and almost letting it slip from her hand while doing so and got pissy when asked not to do that. It took a few acts of congress in order to get refills on drinks and to have our orders taken in the first place.

The food, I think between all of us, we had a good bit from the menu. The grouper was like rubber and tasted fishy – something that I’ve really never experienced with grouper before even at fair like settings. The gnocchi was actually burnt on one side as if the cook put them in the pan and forgot to flip them over. Not to mention that they were clumpy and bitter to top it all off. The sushi [dragon roll] was not the freshest around town either and was a tad chewy for all of us that actually had sushi.

Another person had Mahi Mahi and couldn’t finish it. It was undercooked and way over spiced. Such a beautiful fish and they butchered it to hell. The batter that surrounded it was different from anything I’ve tasted before and was disappointing to say the least.

Then there was the pasta diabla. The sauce was soupy and bland and the bell peppers were actual mush and the bell of that ball, the scallops, were like rocks. This dish was actually sent back to the kitchen and no replacement was ordered because of the experience.

The worst thing about this was that the table next to us had the VERY SAME ISSUES. Both tables ended up asking to speak to the manager that was there. For the two meals that I paid for (since one was sent back and no other was ordered), it was truly a waste of $98 bucks Especially since the majority of the food was at the table was inedible and the service really really sucked. I mean, REALLY sucked. The manager asked for contact information and actually begged to get another chance. I gave him my business card and told him that he can contact me about this experience but that we wouldn’t be coming back and that I would be spreading the word about this outrage. The other table talked to him (there were five of them as well) and said the very same thing about the waitress and the experience. I could see if it was just us, but the fact that there was another group of people that had the same issues with the establishment only went to solidify our belief that this was the worst time we’ve ever had at a supposed fine dining establishment.

PLEASE PEOPLE, TAKE HEED!!! THIS PLACE HAS SOME SERIOUS ISSUES AND THE FOOD IS NOT GREAT AT ALL. YOU’RE PAYING BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF THE BIG AND SOMEWHAT EMPTY FISH TANKS WHILE THEY PAY FOR THEIR LEASE ON THE WATERFRONT.
